Humanity at a Crossroads
Humanity is at a crossroads. How can we appeal to a deeper wisdom that resides in each of our hearts and minds? Are we truly ready to tap into the reservoir of universal values and aspirations that can give rise to new structures and processes specifically focused on creating a positive and sustainable future?

As the U.S. 2000 election continues to demonstrate, large numbers of Americans do not find sufficient value in participating in the simple act of voting in national elections. If anything stands out, it is that enormous numbers of people not likely to vote share a common interest in supporting new leaders who have higher and more evolved moral and ethical values than they themselves! This is in contrast to more traditionally minded voters who want elected leaders to reflect a "sameness" to themselves. What is missing is a coordinated, coherent leadership and corresponding material and structural resources to organize and move everyone to a new level.
The New America Papers and the IOOW-2000 research does not yet see one single type or group or tendency in the U.S. that represents a leadership core of people, whether that be one of The 8 American Types, a type identified by some other popular research, or an organization. We do believe there are people everywhere in leadership or positions of influence as well as people from many different groups or types who, given the opportunity, would rise to the occasion to be involved in positive change. We now believe this to be visible on the horizon!
Choosing out of higher motivation is really about thought or consciousness determining form, instead of tacitly allowing existing forms to determine our consciousness and thoughts.
A campaign for a positive and awakened future requires that something meaningful and activating be available for those people who currently feel most discouraged and disaffected from the mainstream political process. It will take courage and high integrity on the part of a candidate (and his or her campaign) to truly connect with these people -- something our current system does not know how to do. It will also require a grassroots social movement that is not tied to any political party. One cannot succeed without the other.
