Universal Bridges: Connection, Service, and Spirituality

Having presented The 8 American Types, the Positive Future-Cooperative Integrative types in conjunction with Social Material Stress and with Social Traditional-Religious Conservative factors, this is a good opportunity to take a step back and look at ways to consolidate these insights by simplifying everything down to three commonsense, yet fundamental, factors.

The IOOW-2000 research found three common elements representing nearly universal bridges that could address the vast majority of Americans. Each of these can also be seen in combination, and taken together, represent a set of core aspirations embracing 84% of American households:

  • Connection Index – represents a range of values and beliefs from the personal connection to one another, connection with creation and nature, and a sense of sacred connection.
  • Service Index – represents a range of values and beliefs from helping one another, making a difference in the world, and nations helping nations.
  • Spirituality Index – represents a range of values and beliefs from traditional and alternative churches, sense of the sacred in all life, and connection to higher consciousness or God.
